Lise Pageau
“Art is about beauty, timeless beauty, taking a snapshot of nature’s beauty, of life itself, and freezing it in time. Everywhere, in nature and in life, provides inspiration of shape, colour, and feelings. With my art I try to rediscover the world around us by interpreting what nature so generously rewarded us with. I paint so that I may capture what I feel at that point in time, and hope that others be reminded, even just for a moment, that what surrounds us is beautiful.

I believe all art is unique, as each individual leaves parts of themselves in their pieces, with their life experience, their happiness, and sorrows. And what my life experience brings to my art is the way I use painting and carving techniques on canvas. You can see the influence of my etching studies where I start with a drawing, etch my image in paste in lieu of an acid bath. The wash that I use, which ends up sitting in the carved part of the canvas adds, I think, another dimension to the work.
My studies over the past 20 years have allowed me to expand my realm of expertise to include various media such as watercolour, oil etching and acrylic. My travels have provided inspiration in what and how I paint. My journey has led me to the art of today which lies in bringing textures and vibrant colours to my acrylic works.”
